Growing Pains: The 2019 Steelers

The Pittsburgh Steelers’ 2019 season was brutal.

It started with a 33-3 shellacking courtesy of the New England Patriots. Veteran quarterback Ben Roethlisberger suffered a season-ending injury in week 2. The offense would eventually be driven by 3rd-string quarterback, under-developed youngsters, and rookies forced to rely on their defense to stay competitive. There was an occasional thrill, but ultimately they ended the season 8-8 and missed the playoffs.

It was a terrible time to run a podcast covering the team (we threw in the towel and ended it mid-season).

Discouraged by numerous turnovers committed by the offense but motivated by a sensational defense, I sent this lowlight // highlight reel out to Steeler Nation as a promo for a podcast at the time – right after a last-second defeat at the hands of the Baltimore Ravens.

I borrowed a familiar 80s sitcom theme that captured the essence of the 2019 Steelers up to that point….

Thanks to John @StillerNation for picking it up and sharing it with Steeler Nation!
